  1. I believe he is a new face of the NBA but not yet. He has to prove himself first and play well for a few years. There will be a lot of eyes on him. I believe a first overall pick and someone who is so tall like him, has a lot of expectations upon him coming in. His first year has been great but he has to sustain it! We will see! Great post!

    1. I also agree with what you have to say Andrew about how he needs to sustain what he has been doing. Also who else do you think is competing with him for being the next big thing in the NBA and what makes him stand out?

    2. Absolutely, your point about Victor Wembanyama needing to prove himself over a few years is valid. The expectations on a first overall pick, especially someone with his height and skill set, are immense. Sustaining his impressive performance will indeed be the key, and the spotlight on him will only intensify. I'm excited to watch his journey unfold and see how he meets the challenges he's gonna face.

  2. I'd say that Victor Wembanyama's journey from the European courts to the NBA is truly remarkable, showcasing the global talent that transcends borders. His versatility as a 7-foot-4 center with guard-like skills is truly unprecedented. While he's making an immediate impact and stands as a betting favorite for Rookie of the Year, it's too early in my opinion to label him the new face of the NBA. Other seasoned superstars bring a wealth of experience and accomplishments, but Wembanyama's potential is undeniable.

  3. At such a young age, it is hard to know if he will be the new face of the NBA so early on. With his impressive skill set and first round overall pick, Victor has impressive talents that could take him to the top of the NBA very quickly. What are some things do you think he could accomplish in the next coming seasons that would set him aside from everyone else? There is still a lot of be discovered of Victor and what he will continue to bring to the NBA, but I have hope in his future career and I think he will accomplish many milestones.

    1. Some of the other things that he could do that could set him aside from others could possibly be setting new records as early as he has in defensive areas as well as points. He has already shown that he has been contending for defensive player of the year only as a rookie which is incredible. Also if he ever takes his team to the playoffs at any point in the coming seasons this could shine more light to his name.

  4. I think Wemby has potential to be the best player of all time. But, as we've seen with many great prospects, health and injury play a huge role in that potential. Wembanyama, who is on a tight minutes restriction as a rookie, needs to add significant muscle to his slender frame. As it pertains to being the face of the NBA, I think he will be viewed more as a novelty player throughout his career. Players like Tatum, Doncic, and Giannis (who is already the face of the league) will continue to lead the NBA. Especially, I feel winning is the most important aspect to being the face of the NBA, which is something that the Spurs don't plan on doing anytime soon.

    1. I completely agree with you that taum doncic and giannis are some of the newer faces of the league nowadays. Also the fat that you said winning which is the most important and until Victor can be on a winning team that is something that will go against him.

    2. I agree with this as well. Wemby has a long career ahead of him that is just getting started and he succumb to some injury or health related problem that could ruin everything. His youth also means he is still in the process of proving himself. This will be very hard to do if he continues to play for a team that can't seem to win many games. As you mention there are also other players that have already taken the role of face of the organization such as Giannis and Doncic.

  5. victor's rise from European basketball courts to NBA stardom is truly remarkable, and he's definitely making a name for himself in the league. While he's certainly one of the rising stars, I think it's a bit early to declare him as the new face of the NBA. There are still many established superstars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Giannis Antetokounmpo who are leading the league. I am excited to watch how he continues to develop and play as he may be able to compete for the title.

  6. I think Wembanyama has the potential to become one of the greatest NBA stars. He's already extremely talented and only 20 years old, and having already made as much of an impact as he already has means he's definitely on the right track. However, because he's only 20, there is a lot of time for things to change and there are currently other players that people could say are leading the NBA instead of him. As someone who likes basketball, but doesn't keep up with the NBA as much as other people do, I have heard of him, and can say that if I've heard of him, then he must be making an impact.

  7. Wembanyama has definitely made a massive impact on the NBA. Players like him and Luka Doncic are opening up NBA fans in America to the rest of the world. Being so talented at such a young age is extremely inspirational to youth in countries outside of the United States where basketball may not be as popular. It will be interesting to see if the increase in success and popularity of international players like Wembanyama will lead to more international players playing in the NBA.

    1. Jake I agree, the NBA has now been getting filled with international superstars and has shown talent in other places of the world. This is great for the NBA in my opinion and I hope to see this continue. Have you seen the next coming draft class? The top 5 projected picks are non college basketball players and 3 of them are international.

  8. This post is about Victor Wembanyama and how has become a brand-new star in the NBA. He has shown that you can do the impossible and be 7'4" and play like a point guard. That really is unfathomable to even think about and it really makes you think what he can do in his career. I don't think he is the new face of the NBA, but I do think he one of the many faces in the NBA. He is too much of a rookie to be known as the new face of the NBA. He gets talked about a lot and is doing very well in his first season, but I wouldn't say he is the new face of the NBA. People like Nikola Jokic, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, and many others are still the faces of the NBA, but Victor will have his time soon and if he keeps progressing, and he definitely will be the face of the NBA soon.

  9. Victor Wembanyama's meteoric rise and immediate impact in the NBA certainly position him as a potential new face of the league. His unique blend of height, skill, and versatility has not only set new standards for what a player of his stature can achieve but also captivated fans and analysts alike. While it might be early to bestow the title of "the face of the NBA" on him, considering the presence of other established superstars, Wembanyama's trajectory suggests he could indeed become one of basketball's defining figures. His global appeal and game-changing talent make him a strong candidate to lead the next generation of NBA stars. -Logan Gornbein
